AiKwang-won Orphanage

Numerous people in the church volunteer to help out this orphanage in Jangseungpo. It’s perhaps a 10-15 minute drive from Okpo and is situated up on a hill overlooking the sea. The orphanage takes care of many orphans and is a really wonderful organisation to help out at.

There is also the ‘Erwin Sheltered Workshop’ on the grounds of the Orphanage, which has a range of arts and crafts for sale, mostly made by the residents, and includes textiles and ceramics. There is also an amazing on-site bakery and a very swish coffee shop (think beautiful wood and green plants everywhere) that will make you believe you’re not in Korea for a minute. It’s a really great venue to meet for a coffee, and an even better organisation to volunteer or make donations to.
